StemUp's Widening Participation Program

StemUp’s Widening Participation scheme is designed to support students
from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds in accessing and
benefiting from our educational resources. Through this initiative, we
offer a 25% lifetime discount on all digital products available at StemUp to
qualifying students.

OUR REQUIRMENTS

Unfortunately, to comply with government regulations on widening participation and to ensure fairness among StemUp's customers, we can only offer this discount to individuals who meet any of the following criteria:

For Students:

  • Entitled to free school meals at a non-independent establishment.
  • Receives any UK-recognised bursary, including but not limited to: the 16-19 Bursary Fund, Local Authority Support, or the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
  • Residing or studying in a POLAR Quintile 1-4 area.
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a higher education access program, such as the MAP (Mentoring and Access Program), Sutton Trust program, or an Oxford Access Program.

For Parents:

  • Receive any form of income support or Universal credit.
  • Receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA).
  • Receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

SOME OF OUR RECOGNISED ACCESS PROGRAMS

HOW TO APPLY

You or your parent will be required to provide one form of proof of identity, proof of address and proof of entitlement to the contact form below.

Any one of the following:

  • Passport (UK or foreign)
  • UK Driving Licence (full or provisional)
  • National Identity Card (for EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens)
  • Government-issued documentation (e.g., letter from HMRC or DWP confirming your name and date of birth)

Any one of the following:

  • Utility Bill (electricity, gas, water, or landline phone) – dated within the last 3-6 months
  • Bank or Building Society Statement – dated within the last 3-6 months
  • Council Tax Bill or Statement – most recent year
  • Mortgage Statement – dated within the last 12 months
  • Tenancy Agreement – signed and dated within the last 12 months
  • HMRC Tax Notification or Letter (e.g., tax return or tax code notification)
  • Driving Licence (if not used as proof of identity)

Any one of the following:

Student's eligibility criteria:

Any letter from a school, college or organisation addressed to a student's legal name that confirms their status (of e.g. free school meals or bursary)

Parent's eligibility criteria:

  • Universal Credit Award Notice: A letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) detailing the Universal Credit addressed to the parent's legal name.
  • Income Support Award Letter: A letter confirming the recipient’s eligibility and payments for Income Support addressed to the parent's legal name.
  • DLA Award Letter: A letter from the DWP addressed to the parent's legal name.
  • PIP Award Letter: A letter from the DWP detailing the PIP assessment and duration of payments addressed to the parent's legal name.
